Scope. This produces accurate geometry for a single rectangular element — it is a drafting aid, not a structural model. It carries no reinforcement, connections, loads or material properties, and is not a BIM deliverable. Anything structural still needs an engineer’s drawing.

It models one rectangular element. It is a dimension-checking and file-generation tool, not a modeller — there are no assemblies, joins or reinforcement.
3D Blueprint & CAD Export — frequently asked questions
- Which CAD format should I choose?
- DXF if the geometry is going into a drawing — AutoCAD, BricsCAD, LibreCAD and most 2D/3D packages read it directly. OBJ if it is going into visualisation or a renderer. STL if it is going to a 3D printer or a mesh tool. All three describe the same box; they differ in what downstream software expects.
- What units does the exported file use?
- Exactly the units you typed. If the market is imperial, the file contains feet; if metric, metres. Nothing is converted on the way out, deliberately — a silent conversion is the single most common way a CAD import ends up at the wrong scale.
- Is the file generated on a server?
- No. The geometry is assembled and the file text is written in your browser, then handed to the browser's download mechanism. Nothing is transmitted.
- Can I model something other than a box?
- Not here. This is a rectangular-prism tool for the elements estimators deal with most — slabs, footings, wall panels, beams. For anything shaped, model it in a CAD package; this exists to produce a correctly scaled starting solid quickly.
- What is the volume figure for?
- It is the same number a concrete or material calculator would give you for that element, shown live so you can sanity-check the dimensions before exporting. Feed it into the concrete calculator to get bags or cubic yards including waste.
- Why does the viewport not appear?
- The 3D view needs WebGL. It is disabled on a few locked-down corporate browsers and on very old hardware. The inputs, the volume readout and the exports all still work without it.
- Will the DXF open in Revit or SketchUp?
- Both import DXF, though Revit treats it as a linked drawing rather than native geometry. SketchUp imports DXF and OBJ directly. Confirm the unit at the import dialog in either case.
- Can I export several elements at once?
- Not in one file — export each element separately and assemble them in your CAD package, where you can position them relative to each other properly.
