Siding, stucco & exterior cladding

The outer skin, and the framing and fixings that hold it off the wall.

What this covers

Lap and panel siding; fibre cement with its cutting waste and trim; EIFS from foam through mesh to finish coat; stucco in one and three coats with its control joints; rainscreen furring, ventilation area and fasteners; and the starter strips, corner posts and undersill trim that make up most of the small parts.

What decides which one you need

Whether the skin is drained or sealed. A rainscreen is estimated with its cavity, its furring and its ventilation openings; a face-sealed system is estimated as area, joint and sealant. Getting that wrong does not change the quantity by a little — it changes which items exist at all.

What this does not cover

Glass and glazed units, which have their own family; the air barrier and insulation behind the cladding; and masonry veneer, which looks like cladding but is laid in courses.
