Why round the sheet count up instead of down?
A partial sheet still requires a full piece to be cut from, so the total run length is divided by the standard sheet/coil piece length and rounded up (ceil) to ensure enough material is on hand to cover every run.
Does this account for end laps or overlaps between sheets?
No — this is a straight total-length ÷ sheet-length calculation. If your flashing detail requires an overlap between adjoining pieces, add that overlap allowance to the total flashing run length before entering it here.
Can I use this for different flashing profiles on the same job?
Run it separately for each distinct flashing profile or coil stock length — window head flashing, wall-to-roof step flashing, and other transitions are often different profiles or widths, even if cut from coil of the same length.
