How long will this tonnage last?
It depends on the heat demand and the appliance efficiency, both quoted against energy per tonne. Convert the tonnage for storage sizing and use the energy figure for duration.
Do pellet quality grades matter?
Yes. Certified grades control moisture, ash and fines content, all of which affect both the energy delivered and how much maintenance the appliance needs. Cheaper uncertified fuel often costs more in servicing.
Can I store pellets outside?
Only in a properly sealed weatherproof store. Any moisture ingress degrades the fuel and risks blocking the feed, so outdoor storage means a purpose-made silo rather than a covered heap.
