Why do baffles matter if I already have soffit vents?
Without a baffle, blown-in or batt insulation can slump or get pushed into the soffit opening, blocking the airflow path from the soffit vent into the attic — baffles hold a clear channel open above the insulation.
Do I need one baffle per rafter or per bay?
One per bay (the space between two rafters) — the baffle spans the gap between adjacent rafters, so bay count (not rafter count) determines how many you need.
Does this apply to cathedral/vaulted ceilings too?
