Frequently asked questions

Does this account for grout line width?
Not directly — grout lines add a small amount to the effective footprint of each tile, which is already loosely covered within the standard 10% waste allowance for typical grout widths (1/8-3/16 in). Very wide grout lines could warrant a slightly higher waste factor.
Should I buy tile by the piece or by the box?
Most suppliers sell tile by the box, covering a certain area per box — once you know the total tile count or area needed, round up to the nearest full box for your specific product's box coverage.
How is this different from the Tile & Grout Calculator?
