Frequently asked questions

Why does the waste factor change with material?
Different materials and layouts lose different amounts to cuts, breakage, and pattern-matching. Diagonal layouts and small tiles need more extra material than a simple straight-lay pattern.
Should I round up to full boxes?
Yes — most flooring is sold by the box covering a fixed area. Divide this estimate by your product's box coverage and round up to the next full box.
Does this include underlayment or transition strips?
No — this estimates the flooring material itself only. Underlayment, adhesive, and trim are calculated separately based on your specific product.
