Measuring in feet and ordering in yards is the normal sequence for floorcoverings, and dividing by nine is all the arithmetic involves. The judgement is what happens next. For ordering, yes — roll goods are sold in whole units and part-yards are not available. Keep the exact figure for comparing per-yard quotes, where rounding would distort the comparison.
Does this include waste?
No. Roll goods generate waste through width mismatch, pattern matching and doorways. The area conversion is the starting point and the layout determines the real quantity.
How do I handle stairs and awkward rooms?
