How much storage space do I need?
Convert the tonnage to volume and allow extra for access and for the heap's angle of repose. A covered bay sized exactly to the calculated volume will not hold the delivery.
How many treatments will this stock give?
Divide the tonnage by the application rate times the area treated. Rates vary with conditions, so a stock lasts fewer treatments in a severe winter than a planning figure suggests.
Does salt damage concrete?
It accelerates corrosion of embedded reinforcement, which is a well-recognised durability problem on bridges and car parks. Concrete exposed to de-icing salts needs specifying for that exposure.
