Which number in C25/30 do I convert?
The first, 25, if you are comparing against a US specification, because that is the cylinder strength and US testing uses cylinders. The second is the cube strength for the same mix and will overstate the equivalent by roughly twenty percent.
Is 30 MPa a strong mix?
It is a common structural grade, equivalent to about 4,350 psi. Residential slabs frequently sit below it and structural elements above. Strength is only one property — durability, exposure class and workability are specified alongside it.
Does higher strength mean better concrete?
Not automatically. Higher-strength mixes have more cement, which means more heat of hydration and more shrinkage. Specifying well above what the structure needs can create cracking problems it would otherwise not have.
