How many bags of mulch is this?
Bagged mulch is typically sold in 2 cubic foot bags — multiply the cubic yards result by 13.5 to get the number of 2 cu ft bags needed (1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet).
Does this work for gravel and soil too?
Yes — the area x depth / 324 formula is generic to any bulk loose material. Just adjust the depth to what's appropriate for gravel (often 4+ inches for a base layer) or soil.
