What it governs
The guide to formwork for concrete: what the forms and their shoring have to carry while the pour is still liquid, and how the pressure on a wall or column form is estimated. It is a guide rather than a code — it recommends rather than requires, and it is the document a formwork design is argued from rather than the one it is checked against.
The pressure it predicts depends on the rate of pour, the concrete temperature and the mix, which is why a form that held yesterday can fail on a faster, colder, more fluid pour today. Its pressure formulas have validity limits — a rate of placement, a temperature range, a slump — and outside them the answer is not conservative, it is simply not applicable.
Removal is as much of it as erection. Stripping a form early transfers load to concrete that has not reached the strength the design assumed, and that is a structural decision rather than a programme one.

Editions
This site holds no edition list for ACI 347R, so a citation here names ACI 347R rather than a year. The publisher above has the current designation.
Adoption is not verified for your jurisdiction. A model document binds only where an authority adopted it, usually some editions behind and amended locally. Citing a clause is not conformance. No part of the text is reproduced here.
