How much garage floor will my epoxy cover?

- Epoxy Flooring Coating Coverage CalculatorEvery figure is its own

You have
How much floor epoxy?
That is 2 gal(7.6 L). Worked by the Epoxy Flooring Coating Coverage Calculator at the settings below.
The settings it uses
- Coverage Rate per Coat
- 325 ft²/gal
- Number of Coats
- 2
What it will do
325 sq ft of floor
30.2 m²
One garage floor. Enough for a garage floor about 18 × 18 ft.
Or several. Less than one garage floor of the size the Epoxy Flooring Coating Coverage Calculator opens on (a garage floor about 20.7 × 20.7 ft).

The system sets the rate
The calculator opens at 8 m² per litre per coat, about 325 square feet per US gallon, and takes the product's own rated coverage in its place. Epoxy systems differ widely — a thin roll-on coat and a high-build self-levelling coat can be several times apart — so the data sheet's figure moves this answer more than anything else does.
The primer is not in this figure
Most epoxy systems need a primer, and it is the coat that actually bonds to the concrete; the calculator leaves it out of the quantity. A broadcast finish for grip also needs the aggregate and a further topcoat to lock it in. Count those from their own data sheets before relying on the floor shown here.
Test the slab before any of it
A slab that passes moisture vapour will lift an impermeable coating however well it was applied, which is why moisture testing comes before quantities. Two coats is typical for a residential garage floor; a thicker build or a third coat shrinks the floor the same kits reach.
How the answer is worked
Nothing here is a second formula. The Epoxy Flooring Coating Coverage Calculator runs forwards — a size in, a quantity out — and this page grows its own starting garage floor in proportion until the quantity it asks for is what you have. Where it rounds up to whole containers, the answer is the largest size before the next one would be needed.
Where the calculator adds an allowance for cuts or breakage when you order, the same allowance comes off here, because it is the same calculator: a stack you already own finishes less than its face value. Where it adds none, neither does this page — the settings beside the answer say which.

Frequently asked questions
- How much floor does 2 gal of floor epoxy cover?
- At the Epoxy Flooring Coating Coverage Calculator's own settings, 325 sq ft (30.2 m²) — a garage floor about 18 × 18 ft. Every figure follows the settings, which you can change in the calculator.
- How much floor does 10 L of floor epoxy cover?
- At the Epoxy Flooring Coating Coverage Calculator's own settings, 40 m² (431 sq ft) — a garage floor about 6.3 × 6.3 m. That is about 1 garage floor of the size the calculator opens on: a garage floor about 6.3 × 6.3 m. Every figure follows the settings, which you can change in the calculator.
- How many square feet does a gallon of garage floor epoxy cover?
- It depends on the system: the calculator opens at 8 m² per litre per coat, about 325 square feet per US gallon, but thin roll-on and high-build self-levelling products can be far apart. At two coats a gallon at that rate covers about 160 square feet (15 m²). Use the manufacturer's rated coverage.
- How many coats of epoxy does a garage floor need?
- Two is typical for a residential garage floor — usually a base coat and a topcoat over the primer. A broadcast slip-resistant finish needs a further topcoat to lock the aggregate in, and some systems specify more. Each extra coat reduces the floor the same amount will cover in proportion.
- Why is my epoxy floor peeling?
- Most often because moisture was coming up through the slab, or the surface was not profiled and primed so the coating could bond. An impermeable coating over a slab passing vapour will lift regardless of the application, which is why the slab is tested before the quantities matter.
