The distance in miles.
For anything costed by distance, use the road distance rather than the straight line. A quarry eight miles away as the crow flies can be fourteen by the only route a loaded six-wheeler is permitted to take, and haul rates are charged on the route, not the radius.
Distance
16.09 km
1 mile = 5,280 ft = 1.609344 km exactly. Exact by definition. Use road distance, not radius, for anything that will be charged.

This result is a specification — 16.09 km — not a quantity. Put the thing it sizes into your project: how many, what you call it, and your supplier’s price.
Computed in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded. Presented in US customary units and US trade terminology. Where a formula follows a published standard, that standard and its edition are cited beside it on this page; where none governs, the page says so. Local amendments override model codes — verify against the code in force where you build.

Most jobs need more than one number. Add the calculators you need next and they open right here, underneath this one — your figures stay on screen and nothing is lost to a page change.
Distance turns into money on a construction job more directly than most quantities: plant mobilisation, muck-away, ready-mix that will not travel beyond its ninety minutes, and delivery zones drawn as a radius from a depot. All of those are quoted per unit of distance, and the unit differs by market while the plant and the suppliers increasingly do not. What makes the conversion worth its own page rather than a line in a table is the asymmetry of the error: getting it wrong the wrong way understates a haul by nearly forty per cent, and haul is the line on a groundworks estimate most likely to be a round figure somebody guessed.
