Why does the tremie pipe need to stay embedded?
The pipe's discharge end must stay buried in the rising concrete so new concrete flows out under the surface of the existing pour, displacing water or drilling slurry upward — if the end breaks free, water can mix directly with fresh concrete and cause severe segregation, weak zones, or voids.
What happens if the calculator shows a negative number?
It means the pipe's current embedment is already below the 1.5 m minimum — do not withdraw the pipe any further, and consider adding concrete or repositioning before continuing the pour.
Does this account for concrete flowing sideways (mounding)?
